Shopify Markets Pro Accounting

Shopify Markets Pro, powered by Global-e, provides extra features to help merchants expand and enhance their presence in international markets. By utilizing Shopify Markets Pro, Global-e takes on the role of the merchant of record. This means that Global-e is the legal entity responsible for selling products to customers and ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations in different regions or countries.

Merchants have the option to utilize the Markets Pro feature to delegate the handling of shipping logistics to customers in different countries and to outsource the necessary compliance tasks that may differ from one country to another, such as managing customs, duties, and sales tax payments.

Payments for Shopify Markets Pro orders have a different payment schedule compared to regular Shopify payment orders and include extra charges.

Upon receiving a Markets Pro payout, Bookkeep will identify and process the payout in a manner similar to how it handles Shopify Payments. The payout will then be seamlessly posted into your accounting system for reconciliation with your bank deposit.

Within Markets Pro there are additional charges of which to be aware:

  • Taxes
  • Duties
  • Remitted value-added tax (VAT)
  • Shipping costs
  • Shipping label price adjustments
  • Markets Pro processing fee

Below is an example Markets Pro payout aligning with the entry recorded by Bookkeep:

Orders made through Markets Pro may experience a delay of a few days or even weeks before meeting all of Shopify's criteria for payout inclusion as outlined here.

On the sales entry, Markets Pro orders have appeared with a third party gateway payment method of Flow Commerce as shown below:

This allows you to map the Flow Commerce payments to your Shopify balance account as these orders should be paid out via your Shopify Payments account.
